Giants’ Lee Jung-hoo continues recent surge with 3-hit game

With an early season slump now in the rearview mirror, Lee Jung-hoo of the San Francisco Giants has put together a three-hit game in a win. Lee batted 3-for-4 with an RBI as the Giants blanked the Cincinnati Reds 3-0 at Great American Ball Park in Cincinnati, Ohio, on Thursday (local time). This was Lee’s second three-hit game of the season and his fourth multihit effort in his past six. The South Korean outfielder was batting .185 after a hitless Sunday but has since raised his average to .246, thanks to six hits in his past 11 at-bats. Batting fifth, Lee struck out in the top of the second inning but singled off Chase Burns with one out on the fifth. Then with the Giants nursing a 1-0 lead in the seventh with two outs and a man at second, Lee delivered a key RBI hit off Brock Burke for a 2-0 lead. Lee then scored the team’s third run on a follow-up single by Casey Schmitt. Lee got his third hit of the game in the ninth inning, accounting for half of the Giants’ hits in this victory. The Giants snapped their four-game slide to improve to 7-12, fourth among five clubs in the National League
