Slumping Lions seek spark from key hitter returning from injury

As the Samsung Lions try to snap their season-worst seven-game losing skid, the return of Kim Seong-yoon, their best contact hitter, couldn’t have come a moment sooner. With Kim back Tuesday from an oblique injury that knocked him out of action on April 7, manager Park Jin-man wasted no time putting the outfielder back into the starting lineup. “We could certainly use some spark in our lineup,” Park told reporters before playing the Doosan Bears at Jamsil Baseball Stadium in Seoul. “Seong-yoon is fully healthy, and he has had no issues in practice.” Kim enjoyed his finest Korea Baseball Organization (KBO) season in 2025, finishing third overall with a 331 batting average and leading the league with nine triples. He also finished in the top 10 in hits, doubles, steals and runs scored. The 27-year-old was batting .385 after seven games with only one struck out when the oblique problem sent him to the sidelines. During their seven-game slide, the Lions were shut out twice and scored just 14 runs, the fewest in the KBO in that span. They have also stranded a league-high 70 runners on base ove
